Stuart vs Jupiter Real Estate: Moving North for More

And What to Know About Palm City
Kristin Wallace  |  April 12, 2026

Jupiter and Tequesta have long been some of the most desirable places to live in northern Palm Beach County, known for waterfront homes, golf communities, and a strong coastal lifestyle.

But in recent years, more buyers—and even some current Jupiter homeowners—have started exploring areas just to the north, particularly Stuart and Palm City.

For many, it’s not about leaving Jupiter entirely. It’s about finding a different balance of lifestyle, space, and value—while still staying within a reasonable distance.

Why Buyers Are Drawn to Jupiter

Jupiter continues to be one of the most sought-after markets in South Florida.

Buyers are drawn to:

• Close proximity to the Jupiter Inlet and beaches
• Waterfront homes with direct ocean access
• A strong boating and golf lifestyle
• Walkable areas like Love Street and Harbourside
• That clear “Bahama blue” water along the Intracoastal

For many, Jupiter offers a lifestyle that’s hard to replicate.

Why Some Buyers Are Exploring Stuart

Stuart offers a slightly different experience—one that many buyers describe as more “old Florida.”

Vibe:
More laid-back, less built-up, and a bit more traditional in feel compared to Jupiter.

Buyers are often drawn to:

• A quieter pace of life
• A historic downtown and local charm
• Waterfront homes and boating access
• Sandbars and time on the water

There are still waterfront restaurants and boating destinations in Stuart, but the water tends to feel different—less of the bright “Bahama blue” you see in Jupiter, and more of a natural, river-based setting.

For some buyers, that’s exactly the appeal.

Where Palm City Fits In

Palm City offers yet another variation—and is often the quietest option of the three.

Located just west of Stuart, it provides:

• Larger homes and more land
• A quieter, more residential environment
• Good value compared to Jupiter
• Access to waterways and boating lifestyle

Palm City doesn’t have the same walkability or central waterfront hubs as Jupiter, but it appeals to buyers looking for space, privacy, and a slower pace—while still being close enough to Stuart and the coast.

Value and Space Are Driving Decisions

One of the biggest reasons buyers explore Stuart and Palm City is value.

Some buyers coming from Jupiter feel:

• Prices have increased significantly
• Homes are more built out and dense in certain areas
• They want more space for the same investment

In many cases, they find:

• Larger homes
• Bigger lots
• Different price points

just a short drive north.

Growth in the Area

Another factor influencing buyers is growth.

With new golf clubs developing in Hobe Sound and new restaurants and amenities expanding into Palm City, more people are starting to pay attention to this part of the market.

It still maintains its quieter feel, but there is steady development happening.

What Buyers May Be Trading Off

While Stuart and Palm City offer strong advantages, there are also trade-offs.

Buyers coming from Jupiter may notice:

• Longer boat rides to the inlet
• Less direct ocean access
• Fewer centralized waterfront dining areas
• Less of that bright Intracoastal water color

For some, those trade-offs don’t matter. For others, they’re a deciding factor.

Why Some Jupiter Homeowners Make the Move

I’ve seen clients make this move for a few key reasons:

• They want more space or land
• They prefer a quieter, less developed environment
• They feel Jupiter has become more expensive or built out than they expected

For those buyers, Stuart or Palm City can feel like a better long-term fit.

For others, Jupiter still offers a lifestyle they don’t want to give up.

It’s About Lifestyle, Not Just Location

This isn’t a question of one area being better than another.

It comes down to how you want to live.

• Jupiter offers energy and proximity
• Stuart offers charm, character, and a slower pace
• Palm City offers space, value, and quiet

Each one appeals to a different type of buyer—and sometimes the best way to know is by experiencing them firsthand.
